Is it too late in 2022 to start a blog? Not at all — but getting it right from the start is crucial. Georgi Todorov, the founder of Thrive My Way, talks us how he used eight strategic tactics to grow his blog in six months.

8 tips to keep you on track while starting a blog
Every day, more people want to know how to establish a successful blog. Within six months, I had developed a blog with daily viewing figures of up to 1,500 views per day. In this essay, I’ll show you how I did it in eight easy stages.

Step 1: Get into the correct frame of mind

You might wish to create a blog for a variety of reasons. About a quarter of new bloggers desire to blog so that they can work for themselves. Another 16% wish to do it in order to grow their own audience.

Whatever the case may be, you must adopt the proper mindset.

When I lost my job, I decided to start my own business. I also realised that opening a blog and publishing a few blog entries would not be enough. So, despite the fact that I launched my blog in August 2021 with only 10 articles, I realized I needed more.

Within two months, I established a goal of publishing 200 long-form essays. I had some money saved up, which I used to start my site by hiring writers to assist me.

For success, you must have the right mindset. You should treat your blog as if it were a company. Many novice bloggers approach blogging as a pastime or only post once in a while. They stop publishing after 10 or 20 posts, believing that success will follow. It is not going to happen. To be successful, you need a large “content moat.”

You must also be willing to put in long hours, treat it as a business, and fail quickly. You’ll be more likely to stick to a timetable — and succeed — if you handle it like a business.

Step 2: Make a list of possible subjects and clusters.

You need to set subjects and clusters now that you’ve defined your purpose and developed the correct mentality.

For example, I intended to make content related to blogging. So I began with the subject of ‘How to Begin a Blog.’ Then I looked at what others were looking for on this subject and published articles that addressed their concerns.

I wrote articles on “how to choose a website for guest posting” and “how to make money blogging,” for example. You should search for topics that your target audience will be interested in.

The goal of this section is to let Google know that you’re an expert in a particular field. If you publish material on a variety of topics but none of them are thorough, long-form articles, Google will perceive you as less of an expert.

You may increase the relevance and authority of your website by providing high-quality content on your main topics. You can raise your rating this way.

Another advantage of this strategy is that it will aid internal connectivity (more on that in a minute).

Step 3: Think about outlining your articles.

Next, consider how you’ll write your content. Hiring writers will be beneficial. Even if you don’t, an outline is the best way to start any piece.

I also make videos for my authors so that they know exactly what I’m looking for in an article. You may easily record these movies with free screen sharing software.

Detailed briefs, especially for newcomers, can make a difference — they’re like a road plan for your essay. Outlines are vital if you employ a writer since they detail your expectations.

Step 4: Find and hire authors

I employed a total of 12 writers, a mix of freelancers and LinkedIn connections. I was able to swiftly establish a 200-article archive by hiring multiple writers.

There are a lot of good writers out there. The prices can vary, but the most important factor is the quality of the writing. You should also work with folks who are able to crank around articles swiftly.

This is why it is critical to have some money set aside for savings or investments. You can manage the product phase much more quickly and focus on other parts of running your site by hiring authors.

Try to get a good editor in addition to the writing staff you hire. Before I publish anything on my blog, I send it to my editor. Because English is not my first language, my editor comes in handy.

Use a document solution like Google Docs to guarantee that everyone on your team is on the same page. As a result, you’ll be able to polish your articles with your writers and editor until they’re ready to publish.

Step 5: Make sure your articles are of good quality.

Double-check the quality of a new work before publishing it. This should be one of the easiest steps if your briefs were good and you hired a great writer. You’ll be done in no time if you have a skilled editor.

Check for accuracy, spelling, and grammar first. After that, the editor should contact the writer and request that they make the necessary modifications. If you have a solid team, this may be completed in a few of days.

You should also check your text for plagiarism. Plagiarism might hurt your Google ranking as well as your reputation in your area. Copyscape may check the freshness of your material and identify any phrases that aren’t unique.

Step 6: Don’t forget to provide internal links.

Now for some internal linking SEO optimization. Internal links inform Google and other search engines about additional content on your website. It aids in their ranking as well as the website’s authority in specific themes.

I attempted to manually add connections. This took a long time, so I looked for some programme to assist me.

You can use the software to create links to your website automatically. If you’re unsure, consider connecting mostly to your pillar posts. These are the most important posts on a subject, such as my essay on how to establish a blog.

Step 7: Promote your blog by reaching out to others.

Now that your blog is up and running, the following step is to promote it.

You may use social media and email marketing to promote your blog in a variety of ways. Email is a fantastic option. It lets you to connect with a group of people who have agreed to hear from you on a regular basis.

Have you started to grow your email list yet? It’s not too late, and the benefits will be well worth the effort.

Make sure you have a few sign-up forms on your site to collect email addresses from your visitors. But that isn’t enough; you must also verify that these contacts are genuine. Some people will not use their real email addresses, or they may make a mistake and provide an incorrect contact information.

Using an email verification service is one method to avoid this. It not only prevents bogus emails from registering, but it also ensures that all of your existing contacts are still real. Within a year, about 22.5 percent of emails will expire, so check them every three months.

This is why I check the emails people use to join up for my website using ZeroBounce. I also examine older emails to make sure they haven’t become dormant.

Step 8: Take it a step farther [partnerships and monetization]

Now I’m getting ready to take my website to the next level. This is where I connect with other bloggers and form collaborations. Guest posts are an excellent method to reach out to new audiences.

You should also consider how you’ll make money from your website. Affiliate marketing and sponsored content are two examples of ways to make money from your blog. You must choose the best path for your blog and make sure you have a strategy in place.
